"I believe that those agitating for an Australia dominated by seperate "identities" (eg aboriginal separateness) are a minority whereas the majority would prefer a united Australia with a common, traditional set of values and identity."

I agree with your belief. such unity comes only from equal opportunity. once all sectors of the commonwealth have the same access to education, training and employment opportunities most of the grievances which inhibit personal growth and access to wealth accumulation will dissolve in the sense that the country enables all people to achieve. not just the children of the "elites"

mate you seem to have been led to believe that elites are the enemy of the state and the people. elites are those who have achieved an abnormally high degree of success. true, some elites have succeeded through unfair practices (bullying, theft of others ideas and successes etc). but many have achieved through their own efforts due to the opportunities, such as superior education, and hard work.

so are you saying that the failure of the referendum and the advent and rise of independent MPs are a sign of unequal opportunity? I see the dominance of political parties (left as well as right) has been the brake on opportunities for independent candidates to be elected.

it was the Liberal Party elite which stymied the referendum. so I don't see your connection there. are you angry with the Lib leadership for screwing Aboriginal people out of their Voice?
