The problem is he has broken 2 promises now, the super promise and now this one, and both of those are not indexed. This is the root of the problem, I wouldn't have a problem if they changed both of those things but indexed them as more people are going to be in these brackets in the future and with inflation it is tax by stealth. The top tax rate has not been changed in 15 years, it should change due to inflation, this is what stage 3 is about returning taxpayer money due to bracket creep and it would have applied to everyone. Instead people are arguing over who should get what tax breaks instead of pushing for indexation and without indexation everyone gets screwed over in the long run. Better would have been to raise and index the tax free threshold.
