As option prices rise a large % volume will naturally fall for the same $ investment BUT this is offset by the increased % of holders now in profit at current prices and increased liquidity thus arising.... potentially.

However - we have a reluctance to sell options, and a reluctance to bid options up 'relative to the ctp price' and thus reduced volumes in CTPO trading. Its a very big signal of increased prices expected in near future.

Relative ratios of options traded to shares traded, and changes in same day to day, not used by many.... suits me just fine!
