I live in Tassie and no for a fact that you can get the base plans for just $29/month (15GB at 25 Mbps), which is way faster and way cheaper than existing services. A perfect plan for the average home user.

And anyone who thinks wireless could take over fibre is tripping. A few ISP's went down this morning in the bad weather and the wireless networks crawled to dial-up speeds. You'd need a mobile tower on over street and flotila of satelites to cope with everyone using wireless broadband. Its a fools solution - especially over the long term where satellite and tower maintenace costs would become astronomical.
