Snails ! Speaking of snails, please throw out all the snailbait stuff you've got - we haven't seen a blue tongue lizard for about two years now so we suspect some of our neighbours haven't learnt the lesson, the lizards eat the poisoned snails and then get poisoned themselves.
If using a raised garden bed or pot get some of the adhesive copper tape available from gardening centres and stick this around the pot or the timber of the bed about halfway up, about 200mm, make sure the tape is continuous with no breaks and the snails won't cross the tape as they get repelled by the small electrical charge - I think it's called a voltaic reaction or whatever.
