That's exactly my point . The selfish bickering by those who appear to have no basis for their argument are spoiling it.
That's why l would like to see the date changed.
Of course that would mean that indigenous people would have to accept the new date also because we would be celebrating today's Australia. We won't be shoving an unpleasant reminder in their face.
l'm not suggesting that we should then forget or ignore the past but there is a point where we should all move on imo.
