With the Blue Tongues - we also had the same problem in our area about 10yrs ago. A study revealed that they like to eat tinned dog food. And as a result of approaching the bowls, the dogs get a hold of them and they are gonners every time. Snail baits were also a big issue. We were told to keep feed once a day and remove the bowls. Also, have a look - you just might have a Pink Tongue lizard: same in every way, but have a pink tongue and more endangered. If you think that sounds a bit mad, read on...
I'd like to recommend snail farming to anyone who has an abundance of them, with good countryside lawn :-) Look into it, i'm not kidding, the restaurants pay loads for them - best in the world from Australia apparently. I know, it sounds weird, but they even make little fences for them and treat them like cattle, eating good grass in the day etc lol...i do sound mad!
