"In this verse, John is referring to Jesus Christ. He mentions that Jesus Christ existed from the beginning and that John himself and others have witnessed Him directly.John emphasizes that they have heard, seen, and touched Jesus, and he refers to Jesus as "the Word of life."

"That which", in NO way is describing a He, Him or a person.
1 John 1 is predominantly about the Father, the introduction of him and his word of life, plans for etc for life, the same deal in the TRUE message of John's prologue, Jesus is ONLY ref in 1:14, which is where he -> became on the scene and dwelt.
"the word of life" -> John 5:39 - You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. In the OT.
So John CLEARLY pics up on this in the following;
1:1 - That which was from beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; SCIPTURES
Your trying to tell us, theymulled Jesus with their hands, yea right.
This is CLEARLY referring to the scriptures of the OT.
Word of life that was with the Father examples as well as OT expressed versions of it;
Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before time eternal;
2 Tim 1:9 - Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose (word of life in and with the Father) and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus (the one to be, re from Mary) before time eternal,
Eph 3:9 - And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things ->(Alone and by himself Isa 44:24)
1 John 1:2 - Inter -> and the life was revealed (made clear), and we have seen and bear witness (to the scriptures), and proclaim to you the life, the eternal which was with the Father was revealed (made clear) to us.
3 - that which we have seen and heard, we proclaim also to you (scriptures), so that also you fellowship to have with us.
Indeed the fellowship now, ours with the Father, and with the Son of Him, Jesus Christ.
