I get the notion a stable dividend policy attracts a certain investors who prefer income.. and introduce new investors to share registry... but for mining companies that just started production buybacks in my opinion is the preferable to return value to shareholders. It gives bigger 'bang for buck ' by reducing the number of shares on issue and leaves optionality for a junior producer how to utilise its future FCF to pursue growth opportunities.
