    It is the parliament i have confidence in, not the party. This is a totally different situation - and very different from the 1940s - and is what the people voted for. They decided to have a hung parliament with the implied instructions - "get on with it - work it out and make it work"

    Most of the parliamentarians are trying to do just that.

    One group, led by Abbott, is trying to destroy it.

    Of course policies are up for grabs. That is what the electorate decided. The only ones who can't see this are the snipers on teh right who are getting left behind.

    But the turnbulls and others are making more conciliatory noises. Abbott's position is not supported and is under threat as a result. A significant number of his wart want to contribute in a positive way to this new way of governing the country. The right minority are preventing them. They won't last.
