An experienced mechanic this morning on abc radio, discussing this issue, spoke at length about the higher maintenance costs for EV compared to ICE cars.
Seems maintenance costs are much higher for EV as system faults/checks, EV component faults/checks and EV servicing are all more frequent and more expensive than ICE vehicles.

Oops, my bad Wang Chung, that is not practical improvements for EV over ICE but indeed the opposite.
