Ignoring child support, a couple both on $85,000 gross currently take home $65,208 each, or $130,416 combined.
Under the new S3TC, they would get 2 x $67,012, an extra $3,608.
A single income family on $170k, currently takes home $118,663 - nearly $1000 a month more than the two income household on the same gross income. The new S3TC gives them $122,362 after tax, an extra $3,699. Not much more extra.
The original S3TC would have addressed the current inequity between the tax burden of these two households.
The first household would have been exactly $2000 better off, but the second would have been an extra $5,345 in front, reducing the difference between them to about $730 per month.
I doubt anyone would consider a couple both on $85k as rich, but the $170k single earner is considered rich by the left wing media despite having much less to support his family.
