Role models are worthy of imitation. The only reason a person might accept Pat Cummins the social activist as a role model is if they believe his views are worthy of imitation.

If Pat Cummins came out and suggested that Indigenous Australians cost us too much already, that their plight has nothing to do with White Australians or colonial behaviour but with their own laziness, and that they need to help themselves at their own expense and stop leeching off the rest of society, I'm sure you would be whistling a different tune.

You are confusing your belief in what Pat says with his right to be saying it. Role models shouldn't espouse their own political views.

When Pat retires, he can say whatever he wants. While he is captain of an Australian sporting team he should not be delivering his personal political opinions to the public. Don't support a rule just because you are on the winning side.
