Australians are a great people. A little apathetic but if you're in strife there is no one else I would have in my corner. Bushfire, flood, earthquake. They are right there manning the pumps or putting their hands in their pockets.
My parents came here as refugees. If they were sick they would have been knocked back. It wasnt a question of do you want to work, it was you will work where we say for 2 years until you've paid off your spot. My parents didnt congregate in an ethnic enclave, nor did they seek to impose their culture or religion on the Australin people.
The government, both sides have bungled this. If the unsophisticated pollies back in the 50s got it right and built a great nation, why cant they do it now ?
