well you are wrong - I am not a communist and nor do I support dictatorships or puppet leaders or those who are corrupt. So I cannot admit to something I am not

As for me referencing social engineering - I mention it because it exists regardless of the system in which we operate. Changes to the way western governments functioned that took place in the 80s were social engineering. These changes were intended to reduce regulation, encourage free enterprise, and deregulate the labour market. They happened at the same time as technology was shifting and in the 90s we saw increasing globalisation and off shoring. Companies started to use redundancies and labour laws, foreign ownership laws and incentives shifted . Over decades marketing, an aid to a capitalist society, has become increasingly prominent and shaped social values and beliefs. Messages from politicians of any persuasion, movies, whatever.

we are bombarded by messages about what is important. Our lives are shaped by media, by laws, by culture. We are social beings and such messaging has a powerful impact on what we think and believe.

anyone who thinks social engineering is something that only left wing or communist governments do is fooling themselves - wilfully or unwittingly. Governments and people act on each other. Laws shape thinking and social sentiment shapes laws.

If this were not the case we might still live in a feudal society, or under the rule of a king - who thinks the rule by divine right. We might not have introduced unions - by law, or changed the way they operate or the labour market rules. We would not have laws that responded to technology threats, or enabled technology.

let’s take America as an example. They have over decades been fed messages about veterans, fighting for their country, bravery and so on. And thus they enable the ongoing expenditure on weapons that is a critical part of their economy. They feed it further by their deep belief - messaged over and over again - that they are leader of the free world.

They hold dear the idea of carrying guns to the extent that it is so bred into the way they think and legislate they overlook the civil consequences.

visit any country and the messaging is clear. What is held as important. What they can and can’t do. For example in Switzerland you can be heavily fined ( or are at least threatened with a fine) if you don’t do the correct thing with your refuse. In general the way that people deal with their refuse is, as a result markedly different from australia.

capitalism is as much the result of social engineering as communism. In fact it is important for both systems to ensure their ongoing existence.
