Not sure they're just worried about accidents from collisions. The Eastern Golf Course fire caused by a Gold Buggy lithium battery cost the Insurance Industry for that lost circa $48 million . I saw there was another loss of a house in Brisbane last week as well. Issue there seems to be no ' over heat ' or cut-off if unit is fully charged and remains plugged in. These issues in my view are more about the ' Electrical ' technology aspect of the charging units and batteries. And I suspect there are a lot of older Golf Buggies out there with older battery technologies. As required in the LNG Vehicles , systems have to be checked by a certified gas mechanic every 10 years...which is probably not enough for Lithium Batteries.
Anyway , I'm not an electrician or a LPG gas mechanic , but I do know the loss at the Gold Course was $48 million caused by ONE single golf buggies battery.
