how about the other news in greenland

  1. 206 Posts.
    hi everyone
i was not surprised to see emsounder talking up the enthusiasm of the mayor after his canadian trip.

    isn't that nice.
the question is does it mean anything to ggg?
can he do anything to undue the public relations campaign that ggg and gme a/s have been running?

    the answer is no.

he is a member of the opposition party, his enthusiasm is not going to have any effect on the major national political parties who are not enthusiastic about ggg or uranium mining. as a matter of fact they have reiterated there opposition to uranium mining and reaffirmed of the zero tolerance policy several times in the last week.

what emsounder didn't tell you is that in the same newspaper that carried the rosy article he talked about, was an statement from the minister of mines where he said once again that there would be no change in the zero tolerance policy.

i think that is the 4th or 5th time a major political figure in greenland has reaffirmed the zero tolerance policy in the last 10 days or so.

i don't know why the "in rod we trust" guys never tell the whole story.

the truth is, as i have said before, ggg is stuck.

    they can't do anything.

they must do this new environmental and social impact study and get it approved before they can do anything else, period.

who knows when that will be, my guess is no time soon, since the study requirements haven't even been written yet.

also the prime minister's speech to the opening of parliment was extemely negative to ggg's interests. heard about those anyone? you will in the next day or so.

so on one side we have a politician from the out of power opposition party, who has no real ability to change anything, excited about uranium mining.

on thew other side we have the rest of the government, who are in power, dead set against it and saying so almost daily there will be no change in the zero tolerance policy for exploration or mining.

also the same government makes a change to the approval process for exploration and exploitation licenses of all tenements with radioactivity (like ggg's) such that the approval process is now totally at the discretion of the government (for the first time ever). because of this new study requirement.

on balance does anyone think the news is good for ggg?

it looks to me that it is headed down hill quickly.
do you think it is an accident that the government continues to reaffirm the policies that stop ggg from doing anything?

do you think it has to do with the management of ggg and the greenland company, gme a/s?

i'll leave it to you to decide.

but i am posting because i think it would be tough to do so if you didn't have the information above and only have emsounder's post.

i try to provide balance, if you don't want any, don't read my posts.

    cheers mate
