    Chinas whole belt and road initiative was to provide “loans” to developing countries to enable them to developer their infrastructure.

    That infrastructure “coincidentally” cough cough… is also very useful for using (exploiting) that countries natural resources in return for more favourable loan repayment/natural resource extraction terms…

    Africa is a key part of their initiative.

    China does not need to buy Lithium from Australia - if it needed to right now - the price for spodumene would be a lot higher and LTR would not be in the position it is in - struggling to refinance. The banks can see that - they would not have pulled their finance in the first place if they thought otherwise.
