Hi Kluck, a dividend can easily come about should a significant financial deal is reached with a BP. Just like how in the past the way Genentech reach a deal with Roche. It usually involves an upfront fees (which can be in the billions) and so forth. So if that comes to pass, even without revenue or profit, the sudden sugar hit can be partly used to fund the company operation and excess can be paid out as special dividend.

And since that scenario is potentially possible, someone here worries about their options being unable to earn said dividends. So my response is that there will be ample time for them to convert their options to fully paid ordinary to earn the dividend.
