The US education systems produce a small number of the best and a vast number of the worst on basic geography let alone geopolitical understanding. Within the sea of ignorance there are indeed Kremlin moles and kompromat assets.
Where to from here? The problem isn't restricted to the US. I don't have all the answers.
Luckily Ukraine has EU funding and Putin's army isn't making much progress. Weaknesses on the Ukrainian side are more than matched by Putinist battlefield weakness.
My expectation is that full US support will recommence after the US election because Trump doesn't have a viable pathway (my opinion).
