This seems to be common on these threads - PRU have a big cash balance therefore it’s better to just pay a bit more because they can. They didnt get to this cash position by overpaying for assets - they are financially prudent and intelligent. The statement should be “I don’t mind them paying $X more, because the project is worth $X” - otherwise if they ‘overpay’ - they’d be better paying a dividend or doing a share buyback.
Many Goldies have made poor acquisitions over time, including (so far) Perseus in Sudan.
