Ann: NOVONIX Appoints Sharan Burrow AC to Board of Directors, page-42

This is my first ever HotCopper post; I'm jumping in here to add some depth to some of the superficial commentary on Burrows' appointment ("go woke go broke" - how foolish). Here's the crux of it: this woman is the most senior leader of the global trade union movement. She's the boss. She's the elected leader of the world's working class. Why does this matter to NVX? Because she can open doors to Biden's office (or any US congressman or woman), she can get any European leader on the phone right now, she can negotiate the toughest conflicts and deals, she can push nasty actors (eg Saudis) to play ball with human & labour rights, and she can personify the company's approach to ESG. I am *very* impressed by this announcement, in fact I am very surprised - as a social democrat and trade unionist, she would be very discerning about any role on a company board. As a leftist myself who came to investing with great caution and suspicion, this is personally very reassuring. She will have to keep her duties well delineated of course, but she's an extraordinarily well qualified professional who knows how to manage different interests and responsibilities.
