As a holder for some years I have never been able to understand shorting. My problem is if a borrower b orrows at say $5 , holds for a year and returns to the lender when value reaches say $3.50 . Where is the win in it for the lender. I understand that they receive i nterest on loaned amounts but have seen comments indicating small interest amounts. There is certainly big risks for funds using other peoples investments. Lenders in PLS case would be big losers having shares returned at todays value after borrowing at say $5,50.???
