    We know it's past tense,

    Who is we?
Jesus God and you or everybody who has the ability to read?

but the story past tense is not going to go forward and then leap backwards,

It's explaining different aspects of the Word become flesh.
There are the Word aspects and flesh aspects.
    Divine and human.

And the Word Man (existing Luke) became > FLESH!

Luke portrays Jesus in the gospel in essentially according to the image of the divine man. The person in whom divine powers are visible and are exercised, both in his teaching and in his miracle doing. The image of the divine man also belongs in Jesus' travel narrative.

Deluded people think they say the same thing = NO WAY.

You are trying to attribute Luke's gospel to John's.
By doing that, you distort John's opening and other passages that support John's opening.
Those passages that say the Son of God has no beginning of days and is before all things.

So come on Gum, give some plausible answers here.

You don't have the mental capacity or will to accept what you won't accept.
