Where are the Arnott's biscuits in your comparison produced? Are they both produced in Australia or overseas? In which case, take into account for local labour costs, local producer prices and/or international shipping.
The other side of the argument is you could enjoy lower product prices if Australian society were to accept paying say, Malaysian labour rates for locally produced food stuffs, packaging, transport and using imported products.
Also, Arnott's is no longer Australian owned, so I think it's a poor comparison to say you can get a branded product overseas cheaper, without ensuring a like-for-like comparison is being made. What do Australian-made, Product of Australia biscuits go for in Singapore/Malaysia? Is it Same same?

Arnotts are only produced in Australia. A cursory check on the internet you can find Tim Tams being sold at or cheaper across South East Asia than in Australia. $4.20 in Singapore, RM4.60 in Malaysia Bhat 116 in Thailand vs A$4.50 in Australia.
