Forced, Compelled
I can see what Putin was alluding to though. The treaty of Versailles went too far chopping up Germany (and other countries) leading to tensions and disputes and problems to this day isolating in this case German people from their kin.
The Danzig corridor is a narrow strip of land that separated the main part of Germany from its province of East Prussia. After World War I, the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 created the Danzig Corridor to give Poland access to the Baltic Sea. This arrangement significantly irritated Germany, as it not only cut off East Prussia from the rest of Germany but also placed the predominantly German city of Danzig (now Gdańsk, Poland) under the control of the League of Nations, though it was populated largely by ethnic Germans.
In that context i can see why both countries wanted it. Neither side wanted to give ground on their territorial claim.
Hitler was reunifying Germany, trying to right what he saw as a wrong post ww1. Poland wanted to keep its new access to the Baltic. Unfortunately it came to war. I would not go as far as Putin's translation to say Poland forced Germany to attack, but negotiations didnt make any headway it was possibly preventable if both sides worked harder to compromise and do a deal. In the absence of a deal with Poland, Stalin and Hitler did a deal. The rest as they say is history.
