Which studies are they? Send me some and I will read them.

I follow alot of the H2 news and read alot of the studies. I've worked in H2 production and purification also. The people I follow are engineers and their concerns aren't with the cost of H2 production price. Most of the concerns aren't with H2 production price at all. They are with the physics of energy required to store and transport. Issues with the energy required to produce from electrolysers as well but a little less.

Having said that. If people have a genuine concern for emmissions and environment, they would surely be looking at the amount of renewable resources required to produce H2 at these massive scales. It's about 3x as much infrastructure and renewable producing assets than utilising the electrons as a priority. EG higher levels of electrification and battery storage.

So, if those building out renewable generation want to use 3x as many materials...sure, H2 works. But in the industrial world the same things always direct industries course. Cost and efficiency.

Safety is also a huge concern. You can say all of the right things and design to whatever you want, and ignore the cost of extra precautions and safety interventions. You cant ignore the physics of H2 safety. It is hard to handle and difficult to contain. It requires much more expensive materials and robust safety systems. Cost, cost, cost.

H2 has a massive use case industrially for alot of things. 100M tonnes currently. That's what I think should be the focus. Displacing SMR hydrogen just in that market alone accounts for massive reductions in emmissions, of which would be globally significant. Producing for transport is the absolute lowest value case for hydrogen. The fairytales being sold about it otherwise all invovle government money and subsidies. I havent seen otherwise and like I said, I am more than happy to be shown decent material that tells me otherwise.
