This graphic was from a September 2021 report so thinking may have changed. It shows both the BP33 box cut and BP33 underground mining supplying water into the MSD (if possible). During the wet season the MSD has a distinct chance of becoming full and if its the wet season then you wouldn't need Haul Road Dust Suppression. That leaves 3 outflows - Grants void, controlled release and UG workings (presumably that's Grants UG which isn't currently available).

It would appear obvious that Core needs to keep BP33 clear of excessive water (and water is very good at finding its way to low points). If the water from BP33 is deposited into the MSD then the MSD needs to be kept below at least just below max so it can receive this water. If there's lots of water to manage, controlled release could also be at max capacity. All of this would cascade to Grants void being the only remaining option to receive water. The water work at Grants will definitely improve the ability to have more controlled release / holding volume without resorting to putting water into the pit.

My gut feeling is that Core wants to get BP33 up and running as quickly as possible. This could be before Grants is mined out meaning that Core may shift to something like dry season campaign mining for Grants. Wet season Grants pit becomes overflow water storage.
