The Chinese new year finishes on Saturday, 17 February. A lot of commodities have been stable under the quiet market conditions but that could be about to end. Prior to new year celebrations, China released its first batch of rare earth quotas for 2024. See article

Beijing has also significantly tightened rules guiding exports of several critical metals and minerals. Last year, it banned the export of technology to make rare earth magnets, escalating an earlier ban on export of technology to extract and separate critical materials. ‘…Lynas Rare Earths are barely hanging on, and their shares have crashed spectacularly.’ - see How China is Tightening its Noose on Critical Minerals.

Unlike hard rock rare earths, AR3's ionic clay-hosted have 'easier production' methods, favour the heavy rare earth elements (Dysprosium, Terbium) and have no radioactive waste concerns that have haunted hard rock projects like LYC for instance.

As the transition to a decarbonisation world gains momentum, OECD countries will be turning to safe jurisdictions in sovereign-trusted countries to bring the security of supply that is required in order for them to invest heavily in this future.

A key feature of Koopamurra is rapid rehabilitation which is unlike other mining methods.
