NBN rollout in Tasmania a success: Conroy

The Federal Government says stage one of the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout in Tasmania has been completed on schedule and under budget.
The $43 billion NBN's first three connection sites were officially launched by Prime Minister Julia Gillard during her Tasmanian campaign visit in August.
"In Tasmania the first stage has been completed, we've got hundreds of customers now in Tasmania," he said.
"In the last six to eight weeks since it was actually turned on we came in on budget - in fact 10 per cent under budget and on time."
Only half of households in Tasmania's NBN areas have signed up to have fibre connections.
