Ah yeah. The Ottomans launched an offensive in the Caucuses and Russia was fighting them alone and considering they were also fighting along the longest front ( eastern) in the war, they deserved some support, I think. Funny how few decades ago, British supported the Ottomans in the fight against the Russians around Crimea. Navalny was a Russian nationalist and regular participant of the ‘annual Russia March demonstrations early in his career. He approved of Russia taking back Crimea. Why is west obsessed with this guy? Russia is not Luxembourg, I agree. There are countries that simply function better when they have centralized power, regardless who the president is. Take Yugoslavia for example. A central power was invested in the president for life. The time of prosperity, unity and great post ww2 recovery. With his passing, and the subsequent embracement of the multi party, democratic system, the country spiraled into a monumental catastrophe.

I don't think 'the West' is or was obsessed by Navalny.....he just happened to be the latest prominent symbol of what Putin's Russia today represents and what can happen to you if you dare challenge or cross the 'Supreme Leader' and offer an alternative.
