I do think any sensible political party should do proper due diligence and I’d use some sort of process to achieve that
but as we know appointment as a candidate has a lot to do with relationships, how safe the seat is, lobbying, availability of candidates as well as not knowing how to get better candidates
and I completely agree - rigour is exceedingly unlikely to drive decisions
