Jurisdiction.
For petroleum and greenhouse gas (GHG) titles administration purposes, NOPTA regulates all offshore areas in Commonwealth waters, which comprise those areas beyond the first three nautical miles of the territorial sea.
NOPTA’s role.
NOPTA supports the management of the offshore petroleum and GHG titles by providing expert advice, administration, compliance monitoring and data management in accordance with the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (OPGGS Act).
NSW introduces legislation.

Of course, the first 2 are crystal clear,,, WE all should know that the NOPTA permit decision is positive for us. Our problem is with the JA.... specifically withholding the decision from us since ~Oct 2024. This decision should have been made in a timely manner.. and this is the first injustice towards us. We can see how fast other permits are approved... approved by looking at material evidence. NOPTA has given their un-bias assessment of our permit... which we know it`s approved. x3times
Now, it's the third area mentioned, that we have a problem with. I will mention briefly the concept of the NSW State Government stopping gas flowing through stainless steel pipes, across the first three nautical miles of territorial sea. We know a committee had a look at that plan last year... and rejected it. ...but oh no.... "we" know how we can do it ...redraw the bill so.... "it cannot be overturned" ....reason ? ......environmental reasons ! "Lets try not to talk about the shit going out to sea or the coal ships leaking oil"
I was surprised this new bill came out just over a week ago... ...MK should have approved before xMAS.
Now... listen up to "those people"... who need to get the message. Madeleine King is not going to look at this permit till after the bill is passed. Then she is going to wait some more time... NOT viable to gas just 26-30 kms away when you cannot bring it to shore? Well... this is the kicker
The ADVENT/Bounty group of companies have done everything according to the SPIRIT of the LAW and should by given a deserved decision in a timely manner. I am expecting a decision soon/imminently
...and wait its going to have to be a very, very good reason to deny because we are in Commonwealth waters.
.....we are there to find out whether gas is there in commercial quantities ..and if so........??
This is Australia, the media will always look at their own interests.... hoping they may have a more balanced view............................................................. its their job !
