of course I recall Sen. John Button's plan to get rid of tariffs on imports. it was necessary to reduce prices of imported goods and motivate reform of business practices which were generally inefficient and causing Aus made goods to be more expensive.....
nothing at all as bad for country and in fact improved productivity.... eventually. strong opposition from the business community who were reluctant to make efficiencies and from the unions who were accustomed to low pressure to improve production.
Howard literally caused businesses to close up shop and move to a cheaper labour force. very clearly distinct policies and effects.
y'know I've often been aware my writing can be seen as condescending, but nothing like your posts Moggs. yours makes me seem humble, demure..... for all you know I might have a better understanding of the Button plan and many other matters than you do - oh geee what a surprise
