Just remember that Tesla issue was really a human error, not a problem with flash. Some idiot software engineer turned on logging & wrote tonnes of data to a small eMMC chip designed for storing the O/S, not the right place to store logs. Its not a problem with flash, Tesla used the wrong chip!
The NAND they were using was only 8GB and 3,000 program/erase cycles per block, or roughly 5 years.
The replacement unit is 64GB, so should now last 64 years? Or they could use off-board logging with 4TB SSDs..... so many options...
So whilst ReRAM could solve the solution, the other option is to just throw more capacity at it, like Tesla/NVIDIA did.
One day ReRam will have a big market share, but its very hard to take it away from Flash purely because its so cheap & plentiful... Can't wait to see a high capacity WBT chip..... might jump in then
