I wouldn't buy a new car moving forward if you have even a fleeting concern in your private security and your insurance being kept at arms length. These newer vehicles that are always connected (tesla, toyotas, bwm etc) are already being trialed with communicating things like speeding, acceleration data etc to insurance companies. They will bring a thing in if you have the features and share the data your insurance will be cheaper, that will get enough people to take it mainstream and being it in as legislation, almost there with thr safety feature requirements for ancap currently. I think it is definitely worth hanging into an older vehicle that doesnt have much more than basic cruise control and a cd player.
