You are in a very small minority of ute owners. Particularly doing that distance in one day.
How many times a year do you do that ? Once ?
Not sure what the propulsion system has to do with dodging roos btw ?
The vast majority of private ute owners don't need that range .
For ute owners like you it just means you will probably own that ute a bit longer until battery energy density catches up. lf you've been paying attention you would've noticed that battery energy density has been increasing significantly of late.
l have several mates that are farmers. We've had this discussion . Their utes, typically 70 series Landcruisers , mostly do local work around the farm . Towing trailers, cattle feeding, getting across wet paddocks, carting fencing gear etc. All 4wd farm ute stuff. They don't actually need a huge range. Especially when l point out that all that wasted electricity that they get nothing for from their large solar arrays could be topping up their vehicles.
Then the light comes on .
They are used to unreliable power supply because they are rural. They all have large solar for their dairies, for their bore pumps , for their electric fences, the automatic gates etc .
Now that electric side by sides, another very practical farm vehicle, have come to the market they are even more interested.
They all have plenty of room for solar . When l tell them about the potential V2L that their vehicles will offer they get even more interested.
Farmers love to save money. They love it even more when hear that all this stuff is a business expense and claimable.
You would be surprised how many farmers are interested in switching to renewables and electric vehicles.
