l always find it funny when hc people claim to be some kind of professional and therefore that gives them some kind of credibility .
Then they go on to say something that shows just how little they understand the subject at hand.
Using ice service stations as a template for ev charging stations is the example.
lce cars have to visit a fuel station . They have no option. Because people are either traveling either to or from work it makes sense to fill up at those times. Hence the peaks and the need to have a large number of fuel bowsers.
Every electrical installation is an ev " fuel station ".
That's millions and millions of potential charging locations.
There are a huge number of commercial/industrial businesses that have large underused electrical supplies . Charge networks are developing smallish chargers with a suitable app that will enable businesses to install these chargers for employees and for drive up customers. Think large industrial estates etc.
Basically any site that has a good sized supply.
Why is this a good idea ?
Because it means that all these well underused supplies provide many more opportunities for cars parked during the day to charge.
That also means we can address the duck curve that is already an issue. We need to find a useful and practical way to utilize that extra electricity.
By charging evs that are sitting around during the day we help to fix the problem. Good for the grid. Good for the ev owner. Good for the business owner. Low hanging fruit that is easy to grab.
People who think that fueling evs is the same as fueling ice vehicles really doesn't understand the concept.
