maybe I’m just more in touch with a range of women that you are. This isnt feuding or calling the other queer or about trans as a state of being
surely anyone concerned about human rights might try understanding exactly what has been happening as a result of the trans movement. It’s not about the recognition of the need for dignity and respect it’s the way the demand has played out.
your last paragraph shows you are not aware of some of the detail. try finding out about it and you will maybe start to understand where the objections come from. maybe it doesn’t mean so much to you. It is easy to be magnanimous when you are not female.
here are some examples that have come up. A male criminal with a history of sexual abuse who states that he is trans - a woman trapped in the wrong body who demands to do his time in a woman’s prison, a man who uses what are defined as female change rooms who, still with a functioning penis, strips while changing (and since you are unlikely to have been in a woman’s change room many women still avoid full nudity being on show most likely because they have to face so much noise outside the change room about how they look compared with some idealised version), proposals to take the terms mother, breastfeeding, and similar words associated with being female out of medical parlance because a tiny number of people who aren’t female find them offensive or excluding (and it makes no sense because if they feel they are women then surely they should use the words denoting womanhood ). These are examples and there are more. We have all heard the female sports issue
there are also concerns about the timing of gender reassignment when it happens during puberty - a time when it then becomes irreversible. I understand the reasoning but is this the best way?
To go back to those societies where non binary people have a place there is no clamour for them to be defined as that which they were not born - because they have a place and a role and it’s clear.
