Depletion of coastal sands was on the News in NZ last night. One rock crushing company has decided to make sand by crushing greywacke rock. One of their mines was expected to last 1000yrs and, being near Auckland, there were additional environmental benefits due to shorter transport distances. Concrete blocks will be around for a while yet.
