I have worked in a shipyard that builds in modules and has been about since before Austal and personally i don't see modules being built for ships as the wire needed would be more expensive that buying plate and Tbars and it really doesn't take long to slap a hull together using plate and Tbars. The 3d printing is best left for smaller more complex components that are harder to build and quite often are cast.
