So based on shorts last thursday seems like only 70m shorts were covered, and since 22nd Jan no new shorts were borrowed. This recent push down is most likely A) retail got scared and decided to sell, B) shorts still had some holdings so decided to push down further. It looks like one of two scenarios occured, PLL sold their shares and shorts bought them to continue the push down (but why return some then), or PLL sold to a long term investor (perhaps someone who sees SYA's potential) and as a result shorters took advantage of that sell to push down further so they could cover lower (in which case SP should climb back up again).
