The thing is us people in SA are paying a small amount for a few years to pay for the new interconnector.
Additionally when electricity prices went up it was a price signal for people to install solar panels which drives coal and old style gas generators out of the market to be replaced with those that can turn on and off quickly.
Anyway rooftop solar generation in SA is high so a lot of us have reasonable bills but that puts pressure on those without it.
I installed solar and since then have tiny bills.
So for households it's not so bad. Not as bad as business and industry might have to deal with but even they have been installing solar if they can.
Also I heard on the radio today that Tasmania had more expensive electricity than SA.
Quarterly bills survey.
