Most households with kids will have at least two TVs, and possible at least two recording devices as a minimum.

Each TV can view a live show while each recording device is recording a show.
So as a minimum in this scenario, four video feeds at HD would require (5Mbps x 4 =) 20Mbps, as a minimum.

Again that is without doing anything else on the Internet.

Internet TV or IPTV is only a small part of what the Internet would be used for, and I have only use it as an example to show how quickly 10Mbps would evaporate.



YouTube has recently gone to HD with resolutions up to 4,096 x 3,072.

The Samsung Internet TV is very interesting, I can imagine the sports nuts getting lots of feeds during the Olympics etc.


P.S. senjo, I agree that finding time to watch TV is very hard.
If we outlaw computers and burn the Internet, then maybe we could find time to watch some TV.

Saudi Telecom has introduced a new package offering Internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps, delivered over its Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network.
