I broadly agree with you. EVs are definitely less destructive than fossil fuel cars. I think, though, their benefits in this area have been exaggerated. Even if every ICE car was replaced with an EV, we would still be on target for climate disaster because of all the emissions from making them and keeping them on the road. They are better, but they are not a solution.

I think where EVs will win is that owning and driving them will be preferable on their own terms. For a g see emissions rising purely because of rowing proportion of drivers, they are better value and more fun, a more pleasant experience overall, even if you don't take the environmental argument into account. The trajectory of efficiency, features and price is going the right way, it started with the expensive end of the market, now it's moving down to the cheaper cars. The misinformation on this is pretty feral. I note that crazy Qanon style cooker conspiracy nutjobs have adopted anti-renewable fictions as part of their insane beliefs. Oh well, let them shell out all their money when petrol is $4, $6, $8 a litre.

That's a good thing more EVs on the road - sooner rather than later people will buy them. The world's economy is changing from fossil fuels. You can argue that EVs aren't as environmentally friendly as they could be but they will be in the future and we as a planet have to stop shitting in our own nest
