But after all it is only your opinion about the quality of a post, that's why they really don't mean much other than to stoke the posters ego. They removed the 'thumbs down' years ago for a reason! Whilst you remove 50% of the potential data collection you'll really never know how many posters agreed or disagreed, thought is was quality or thought it was rubbish?

My preference is have NO such indicators at all, that would let the readers decide without committing a public opinion. The best part would be it may take out (stop them responding) about 50% of posters who ONLY want their ego stroked and respond in words ONLY to get attention, also it would remove the data collection by vested interests about how a particular opinion is resonating with the plebs.

I don't need reinforcement of my OPINION, and I don't care whether anyone agrees or not, but..............................it's a big BUT that people use their brain to think has this poster (or any) got a point?

One good honest thought out individual post can change the mind of thousands, and that's considered dangerous in some quarters. It can defeat empires and that's why they want to gauge public opinion on that post.
