To play the devil's advocate, I see Dr Amaral's only corporate role seems to have been with the Ethicon division of J&J from 2009 to 2019. This fairly neatly corresponds with the period when Ethicon was the supplier of the vaginal mesh implant that caused so much trouble and injury and got J&J sued. Justice Fullerton, in ruling against Ethicon in the Australian proceedings, found that Ethicon had concealed what it knew about the adverse effects of the product. That history of being associated with that deceptively promoted product, which is no doubt still present in minds of many clinicians, doesn't sound like an unqualified advantage to me, especially as PNV is expected eventually to get into tissue-supports meshes itself, like hernia and breastfeeding sling products.
