In May, the Company took advantage of the high USD gold price and the weak SEK and transacted a
modest SEK gold forward program of 10,000 ounces at a gold price of 9,205 SEK an ounce to be
delivered at 2,000 ounce per month commencing June 2010.
Makamint,the above quote from the 1/2 Yr report shows that DRA has modest hedging in place.However on this occasion it proved advantageous.
While the gold price has risen in $US it has in fact fallen V the SEK.Now it is .149SEK per $US.Back in May it was .125SEK.
With the gold price @ $US1318 if we divide that by .149 we see they are receiving 8,845 SEK an ounce for the unhedged gold.
So this time their decision to hedge was timely.But it illustrates the need to keep an eye on currency fluctuations
& the need to read company reports
