Even if the ships burnt half the fuel.....
LTRs carbon footprint would still be massive compared to others.....
Not to mention the 700km trucking to port...
That fuel burn btw was at the lower speed....
So probably takes even longer to get to Houston...
Trouble is not many ships sail Geraldton to Houston...
Would almost need to be a SC6 only ship...
Unless they can put a bit of wheat or sheep on it...
Don't think they need that in Texas...
LTR can only ship at the most 20 tonnes at a time...
Even 20t takes 2 weeks for the trucks to deliver....
Geraldton port very restrictive for storage....
No Aust lithium producers ship more than 20t at a time...
So they pay for the whole ship, or get a smaller less efficient ship....
Iron ore shipping totally different ball game.....
Ships take a full load....
Only iron ore....
Port set up for storage and onloading....
