hi Chevelle67, yeh andy was up to his eye balls in the deal along with bubulc, and the others you mentioned and moore.. and if left to run its course it could of been a good thing with the non-suit work bonus, but alas. moore got the sulks about being called out wearing 2 hats and derailed the whole thing. ( CA007- my language)

Pretty sure we all watched it happen in slow motiion. fraud or incompitence or greed? not sure. ( but inclined to think incompitence on Suncorp and greed on moores. 3 years later they still haven't got to court with andy (a case which needs dropping right or wrong) if it was such a clean cut "crime" why hasn't it hit court ? and suncorp- yeh a track record of zero ethics and here we are.

CA007: If your reliant on IBIS World falsehoods you'll fail. I've called them out so many times, it borders on fraud. You think I'm bad, I can show you holes big enough to drive a truck thru in their rubbish.
I've used data from surveys, industry census's, ICA reports, MTAA, Capricorn and MSO data from around the world amoungst other sources which allows me to make the statements about our thriving industry.

Please understand insurance claims make about 60% of our work mix, the other 40% is private work which near doubled in covid time when the riciculous amount of money handed out to bogan's to get 1981 commodore repainted and spoilers fitted. Not only did they spend up big on body/paint sector the profit per jobs tripled.

Many many shop pivited from insurance smash to resto work . AMA did not. they seemingly didn't know what to do and made bad decision after bad decision.. EG: Sacking 5-20-50 staff on mass for example (they called it hibernation) on more than one occasion due to insurance claims down turn, and then wondered why they didn't return. They are now scrambling for 600 plus staff. (not the current boards causation, but they don't seem to have a solution either)
MY OPINION : We do not have a shortage of skilled staff in Aust, we have a shortage of business prepared to pay for these skills.

PROFITS: as mentioned previously I'm working with / involved with literally 100's of shop thru the CRASHZONE network which does about 1 billion a year turnover. I know what profits are available and what profit were made during Covid and since. High volume low margin is for fools. 25- 30% profit on sales is close to the normal for the rest of us.

THE BUY : paying Multipules of 20x is dumb. but paying 20x and doubling profit off that contract and reducing the miltipule to 10x is clever, but carl and his crew couldn't make it happen.

CA007, I'm not going to try and catch you up on 1000's of pages of data and my 48 years in the trade, the last 20 being in MSO ownership space.

I have my truth. I know from a grass roots level what my industry does and doesn't do. Your welcome to book a consultation at whatever your charge out rate is and I'll direct you to most of the info or answer with reliable data in an orderly manner. What you may enjoying reading is a 3 part series on Paint an Panel titled the rise and fail of ama (I think that's what it was called it) . published about 3 years ago.

Doc, that 2 days in a row and my brains aching
